Sometimes All You Need is a Helping Hand

Here for the Community

AJFC extends support to the low-income community by administering federal programs such as CSBG, LIHEAP, and ECIP as a subgrantee under the State of Mississippi. Our services are inclusive and offered without discrimination based on race, age, color, religion, sex, disability, national origin, or ancestry. Counties served include Adams, Jefferson, Franklin, Copiah, Lincoln, Lawrence, and Claiborne.

Utility Assistance

Your home should be a safe and comfortable place for your entire family. The Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) can help you stay warm in the winter and cool in the summer by reducing the risk of health and safety issues that arise from unsafe heating and cooling practices.

AJFC Community Action provides federally funded assistance that helps families manage energy costs associated with:

  • Home energy bills

  • Energy crises

By providing these services and asset-building education, we’re helping individuals like you, meet federal and state obligations while securing a better future for yourself and your family.

Weatherization Assistance

Our weatherization program helps low-income, elderly and disabled residents improve their comfort level and lower energy costs through energy conservation measures, repairs and replacement.

Making your home more energy efficient will not only save you money, but it will improve your quality of life.

Employment, Housing, & Education Assistance

We believe that when you can live above the poverty line, you’re empowered to become valuable, contributing community members.

Administered by the State of Mississippi, The Community Services Block Grant (CSBG), provides core funding to local agencies to reduce poverty, revitalize low-income communities, and empower low-income families to become self-sufficient.

Through our case management services, individuals who’ve participated in the program have achieved one or more of the following outcomes:

  • Moved from poverty to self-sufficiency

  • Earned a degree, certification or received job training

  • Transitioned from unemployed/underemployed to gainful employment

  • Obtained/maintained adequate housing or purchased a home
